HE   WHARE  KOORERO

HE MAARAMATANGA

He whare kōrero, he māramatanga, an interactive installation that incorporates sculpture, painting, lighting and sound.

An immersive project, this work invites visitors to enter and experience the built space as co-creators of an original interactive artwork that explores Māori – Pākehā relationships as embodied by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, in a contemporary art context.

This project is less about what the art is, and more about the process. Making this work according to the principlesof Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the artists constantly work in good faith and with a spirit of collaboration.  When visitors step inside this space, they too are part of this process - not always aware of everything that’s going on - whilst simultaneously trying to be respectful of how their actions are part of the realities we make together.

As local practitioners and co-creators, the kaupapa of this work is a celebration and affirmation of the principles of tū tangata, whakawhanaungatanga, ako, and the puna of our creativity.

Mr role in He Whare kōrero, he māramatanga was to design the installation poster and social media banners.
